Let's have a heart-to-heart. We need to talk about the hard truth.
What's the thing you most want for your physical body? My bet is that you want to feel better. Really better. No more aches or pains, no more canceled plans, no more slogging through your days.
And when you look for this magical new, non-tweaky body, what do you think you need?
If I gathered data from my new-client introductory calls, the vast majority would say that they need more strength and stability. In fact, on my intake sheet, most of my new clients list this as their goal. And in their mind, I think they want unicorn-exercises, some fancy way of bending their hips at the perfect angle which will completely relieve their discomfort.
If only, the could find the exercises that work...
Of course, I’m being facetious. But if you look deep into your heart, I bet there’s some part of you that wishes there were a perfect exercise out there.
Needless to say, you know it’s not true. After all, you’ve tried looking for it. You've gone to physical therapists and personal trainers and chiropractors and massage therapists. You have dozens of exercise routines. Your closets are full of a rainbow of Therabands from all the methods and appointments that you've tried.
Has that worked? Probably not or you wouldn't still be looking.
So sure, maybe your PT didn't understand tweaky bodies and maybe I can give you different exercises, or explain old ones in a different way. Maybe that will help and maybe that will be the answer you’ve been looking for. Maybe if you keep looking, you'll find exercises that work.
Honestly, it’s not likely. I'm just not that brilliant.
But…
Don’t give up. I have worked with many tweaky bodies and I watch people feel better all the time.
The key to truly feeling better
The answer lies not in finding a new, super-dooper exercise but in completely changing your question. Instead of looking for a prescription to fix or manage your body, what if you decided to embrace the experience of living in your body?
Embodiment.
This, my friend, is the secret sauce that makes the movements you do actually helpful to your body.
When we work together, I can promise you that we do work your physical body. You will do exercises and despite what I said earlier, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve. I can help stabilize your tweaky body so you can grow strong.
But while your physical body is moving, the real work is with your body-mind. This means that your physical body, subtle body, and spirit body all function as one.
Does this mean you have to chant or paint mandalas on your cheeks? No (but you can!).
When we work together, I'm equally interested in what is going on in your emotions and thoughts as in your body. By becoming familiar with the signals between your body and mind, your experience in your body will become more comfortable.
